Check On Boston
The Black Superhero Project
More than 3,000 people return to the City of Boston each year upon release from federal, state, county, and juvenile detention facilities. The returning citizens will be a part of the 5.3 million New Englanders with criminal records subject to more than 3,500 collateral consequences not limited to housing, education, health and employment. As such Boston has committed to create equitable and inclusive opportunities for returning citizens to thrive and contribute to the preservation and enhancement of the City of Boston. As part of the Black Superhero Project, CFC40 supported Boston’s Day of Inclusion, and spoke with a number of individuals who returned from incarceration, and the folks dedicated to helping them re-enter society. Here are their stories.
